(BEVERLY HILLS, Calif.) — This year’s Academy Award nominees will have the opportunity to mingle with one another on Monday afternoon at the annual Oscars luncheon. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will host the event at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills.
Eighteen of the 20 acting and directing nominees are expected to attend the luncheon, which will be an opportunity to mingle with others from the industry.
As Academy President Tom Sherak explains, “We separate all the nominees, so that if, let’s say there are four people from a movie nominated, they’re not sitting together. They’re sitting with other people nominated.”
He also notes that the luncheon will not be televised, so it will be a relaxed atmosphere.
Also, the nominees won’t pick up much swag while at the luncheon.
Sherak says, “They walk out with a beautiful plaque, signed by me, and a sweatshirt, and that’s it. A sweatshirt, and a plaque signed by me.”
