Paul Pierce Passes Bird for Second on Celtics’ All-time Scoring List

BOS PIERCE PAUL?  SQUARESPACE CACHEVERSION=1328696228945Boston Celtics/NBA(BOSTON) — Paul Pierce is etching his name into the Boston Celtics’ history book. On Tuesday, he passed Larry Bird for second on the Celtics’ all-time scoring list during the Celtics victory over the Charlotte Bobcats 94-84.

After the game,when Pierce was asked about how he felt passing Larry Bird he said, “That’s incredible…In my mind one of the top five players that ever played the game. I’m not going to sit here and say that I’m anywhere near his accomplishments. Just to be mentioned with this organization is a great honor.”

Pierce is now in his 14th NBA season, all played with the Celtics. He is currently 4,598 points away from tying John Havlicek as the Celtics all-time leading scorer.
