(ARLINGTON, Texas) – Outfielder Nelson Cruz has agreed to a two-year contract with the Texas Rangers worth $16 million, avoiding salary arbitration.
The 31-year-old Cruz was a key cog in the Rangers postseason run last season. During the American League Championship Series against the Detroit Tigers, he belted six home runs and 13 RBIs – both major league records for a playoff series.
Texas acquired Cruz from the Milwaukee Brewers on July 28th, 2006.
