Channeling his inner Roger Clemens, according to ESPN MLB writer Jerry Crasnick, Oswalt has told teams that he is willing to wait until midseason to play baseball again.

The 34-year old Oswalt has also told teams that he will stay in shape, keep throwing, and be ready to join a team at anytime during the season. This is the same approach former pitcher Roger Clemens took in 2006 and 2007 when he joined the Houston Astros and then the New York Yankees in June.

Oswalt had spent the 2011 season with the Philadelphia Phillies where he made only 23 starts after dealing with various back issues. After a strong start to the season, Oswalt wound up going 9-10 with a 3.69 ERA. He struggled in his one playoff game this past season, giving up five earned runs in six innings against the St. Louis Cardinals.
