There was friction between the two players for most of the season, and it was reported that Holmes refused to attend Sanchez’ quarterbacks-receivers meetings during the last week of the regular season. Holmes was even benched during that same game because he reportedly was upset he hadn’t recorded a catch yet in the game.

According to Jets head coach Rex Ryan though, the two are trying to repair their relationship. Ryan says the two have talked on the phone and may even be planning a trip together in order to grow closer with each other.

“I think they’re actually going to get together,” Ryan said. “Look, we were all disappointed at the way the season went. That’s one thing we have in common. We also have a burning desire to win, right the ship. The previous season, they had great chemistry. There’s enough common ground to bring them back.”

After making the AFC Championship Game the previous two season, the Jets went just 8-8 in 2011 and missed the playoffs.
