(15) Norfolk State Dances Past (2) Missouri
Published at(OMAHA, NEB.) — March Madness has officially gone mad. The 15th seeded Norfolk State Spartans defeated the second seeded Missouri Tiger 86-84, in the second round of the NCAA Men’s College Basketball Championship Tournament. Norfolk St. becomes only the fifth 15th seed to beat a two seed in tournament history.
When Norfolk State Senior guard Chris McEachin, was asked if he knew the success rate for 15 seeds versus two seeds he wasn’t quite sure.
“I knew it wasn’t good,” McEachin said. “I knew the two seeds definitely had the upper hand. We thought we had a good chance with the matchups. We felt like we were bigger at most positions and we had a really good chance at winning this game if we played hard and played together.”
Spartans center Kyle O’Quinn led the teams with 26 points and 14 rebounds.
Next up for Norfolk State, the seventh seeded Flordia Gators.
