Jared Wickerham/Getty Images(PITTSBURGH, PA) — Ohio State thwarted a late Gonzaga rally and beat the 7th seeded Bulldogs, 73-66, to advance to the sweet sixteen for the third straight year.
Forwards Jared Sullinger and Deshaun Thomas led the way for the Buckeyes with 18 points a piece.
“We went toe to toe with a really good team,” Gonzaga coach Mark Few said. “Wouldn’t surprise me if they are cutting down the nets in New Orleans. They’re right at that level with some of those other good teams like Syracuse and Kentucky.”
The Buckeyes will play either Florida State or Cincinnati in Boston, Thursday.
