(MIAMI) — Free agent quarterback David Garrard and the Miami Dolphins agreed to a one-year deal on Monday.
The Dolphins were hoping to land Peyton Manning, but with the announcement yesterday that he is headed to Denver, Miami told Garrard he would have a shot at starting.
The Dolphins also spoke with free agent quarterback Alex Smith this past weekend.
“They didn’t say for sure they were bringing another guy in, but they said it’s a possibility, whether in the draft or whatever,” Garrard said in a phone interview.
The Dolphins were impressed after Garrard’s workout on Monday, which led to the signing.
