(LOS ANGELES) — Current Dancing with the Stars contestant Jaleel White says it is “particularly hurtful” that an ex-girlfriend, with whom he has a 2-year-old daughter, has gone public with abuse allegations she initially made two years ago.
Bridget Hardy tells Star magazine the former Family Matters star hit her “across the chest area” in May of 2010 after she confronted him for allegedly cheating on her. She also says, “He pushed me into the toilet, and it broke. Water went everywhere, through the walls and even to the kitchen downstairs.”
White, who never faced charges in connection with Hardy’s claims, has issued a statement to People magazine that reads in part, “The allegations made against me back in 2010 have suspiciously resurfaced in time to coincide with my new show on Syfy and Dancing With The Stars.”
White denies the allegations, but he says he cannot discuss the case publicly, per court instructions.
White says he has been paying child support to Hardy and that “up until now we have had a workable joint custody arrangement.”
Aside from his appearances on Dancing with the Stars, White will host a new Syfy competition, Total Blackout, beginning next month.
