The Jayhawks (29-6) didn’t have a lead until 3:16 minutes remained in the game when Junior guard Elijah Johnson hit a three. They didn’t take the lead for good until  Johnson stole the ball from Purdue’s Lewis Jackson, hustled down the court and scored with 23.3 seconds to go.

Johnson led all Kansas players with 18 points.

Purdue senior Robbie Hummel had 26 points and 9 boards for the Boilermakers (22-13). The game is the last one Hummel will play as a member of the Boilermakers.

“I’m basically in a shock from the game,” Hummel said. “It definitely hasn’t hit me yet.”

Kansas will now take on the 11 seed North Carolina State on Friday.
