(LOUISVILLE, Ky.) — Top seeded Kentucky began its quest for an eighth national title on Thursday night with an impressive 81-66 rout of Western Kentucky.
Kentucky forward Anthony Davis was dominant 16 points, nine rebounds, and seven blocks. Terrance Jones added 22 points of his own and Doron Lamb rounded out the big three with 16.
Kentucky head coach John Calipari liked what he saw on Thursday night.
“I’ve got a good team and good players,” said Calipari. “Let’s worry about us playing as well as we can play; if that’s not good enough, then it’s done.”
Western Kentucky freshman T.J. Price who was a hero the other night did all he could do with 21 points, but the talented Kentucky team was too much to handle.
“They went up versus the No. 1 team in the country, and they didn’t back down a step,” Western Kentucky head coach Ray Harper said. “I’m excited about where we’re going.”
