Meric/Getty Images(PORTLAND, Ore.) — Junior guard Peyton Siva poured in 17 points and had six assists as (4) Louisville (27-9) defeated (13) Davidson (25-8), 69-62, in the second round of the West Region in the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament.

Freshman forward Chris Behanan contributed 14 points and had 11 rebounds for the Cardinals. It’s Louisville’s first opening-game tournament victory since advancing to the Final Four in 2009.

“We wanted to pressure them without trapping, try to take their legs out a little bit,” Louisville head coach Rick Pitino said of their game plan against Davidson. “Because they’re such a great shooting team, that if you let them have their legs, you can be in for a long night.”

Junior forward Jake Cohen had 24 points and 10 rebounds for the Wildcats.
