Romney said the conversation was “embarrassing.”

“Mitt Romney is crisscrossing the state in his Levi straight leg jeans, the 501s, and people are noticing,” said Don Wade of the Don Wade & Roma Morning Show on ABC News Radio affiliate WLS in Chicago.

Romney, who called in to the show before taking off from Springfield, seemed surprised by the choice of topic by the hosts, responding, “Good morning Don, how in the world do you know the kind of jeans I’m wearing?”

“We know what size, they did a close up of the patch on the back of your Levi’s,” Roma told Romney, before Wade interjected, “They took a picture, excuse me, of your butt. And it’s got the size right on there.”

“34, 34, for a guy that’s 65-years-old that’s pretty trim,” said Roma, revealing Romney’s pant size.

The radio hosts were referring to an article earlier this week in the Chicago Sun-Times that noted Romney’s waist measurement.

“Oh my goodness gracious this is embarrassing,” Romney said, laughing. “There’s nothing private anymore is there?”

Wade went on to point out that unlike President Obama, who in 2009 was criticized for wearing so-called “mom jeans” to throw out a first pitch at a baseball game, Romney’s jeans fit him well.

“Oh, that’s pretty funny,” said Romney, still laughing. “Well, you know, I look to my wife to buy my jeans for me and she got me a good pair.”
