(COLUMBUS, Ohio) — The Wolfpack are headed back to their first sweet sixteen since 2005.
(11) N.C. State (24-12) survived a late comeback by (3) Georgetown but Lorenzo Brown made three clutch free throws in the final 10.6 seconds of the game to send the Hoyas (24-9) home.
Four of the five starters were in double digits for N.C. State, and Brown only had 12 but dished out seven assists in the victory. Scott Wood, C.J. Williams, and C.J. Leslie each scored 14 a piece for N.C. State.
Hollis Thompson did all he could do for the Hoyas, scoring 23 in the loss.
“I don’t know that I’ve ever been as proud to be associated with a team as much as I am with this team,” said Georgetown head coach John Thompson III. “This year, this team, in spite of whatever downs we’ve had and losses like today, has been a really special group.”
