Amanda moves back to Dallas, where she attended high school nearly two decades ago. Her arrival doesn’t sit well with her old enemies, who are collectively known as the GCBs. Among her rivals: the diva Carlene, played by Kristin Chenoweth.

Bibb says she loves the show because it has “great comedy” and “great heart,” with “amazing characters that you love and hate all at once.”

GCB is based on the Kim Gatlin book Good Christian Bitches, but Chenoweth says the show does not mock religion.

She says, “I was a little nervous, because I am a Christian person myself, and I didn’t want to do anything that I felt made fun of my religion. And I read the script and I cracked up through the whole thing and I thought, there’s a difference between making fun of and having fun with.”

GCB, also starring Annie Potts and former JAG actor David James Elliot, airs Sunday at 10 p.m. Eastern time.
