The 48-year-old actress claimed in a lawsuit filed in 2010 that Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry assaulted her.  She further alleges that she was fired from the show after she complained about the alleged incident.

The Hollywood Reporter says Sheridan testified Thursday that in September of 2008, she asked Cherry to write her a funny line for a scene she was rehearsing.  She said he became increasingly agitated by her request, and that he eventually “stepped toward me and with his right hand he hit me upside the head.”  She said she then yelled at him that his actions were not acceptable.

Sheridan testified that Cherry later visited her at her trailer and apologized multiple times.  She said she returned to the set afterward because, “I pride myself on being a professional.  I wasn’t going to let everybody else down.”

Sheridan, who left the show in 2009, is seeking more than $6 million.  She will resume her testimony on Friday.
