(DALLAS) — Dirk Nowitzki scored a season-high 40 points on Saturday night in Dallas’ 102-96 win over the Utah Jazz (17-19).
Nowitzki had 30 points halfway through the third quarter before sitting on the bench for the remainder of the quarter.
Dallas built a 23-point lead in the fourth but Utah answered with a late run which put then was shut down when Nowitzki answered with big buckets down the stretch.
“I had a good rhythm tonight,” said Nowitzki. “I had not been really been shooting the ball well, especially from 15 to 16 feet. I just wanted to be aggressive and my teammates kept feeding me.”
The win also snapped a four-game losing streak for the Mavericks (22-16) in Lamar Odom’s first game since leaving the team due to personal reasons.
