(NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J.) — Simon Cowell won’t confirm that he’s actually in talks with Britney Spears for a spot on the X Factor judges panel — but his British counterpart will.
Louis Walsh, a judge on the UK X Factor who’s famous for managing the Irish boy bands Boyzone and Westlife, has revealed that Cowell is, in fact, having discussions with Britney about joining him and L.A. Reid on the show. According to Metro, while appearing on an Irish talk show called Craig Doyle Live, Walsh said, “I was out with Simon Cowell during the week…and I know he is talking to Britney. He’s definitely talking to Britney to do his American show. Absolutely true!”
Cowell plans to have two different women replace Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul on the panel but despite rumors, it appears as though Janet Jackson will not be one of them. Jackson was, in fact, on the show’s shortlist to be a judge, but as she tells TheInsider.com, “[I am]very flattered that X Factor let me know that I was being considered for next season, but it just wouldn’t be possible.”
