Sanchez Reponds To Anonymous Players

SQUARESPACE CACHEVERSION=1331887555837Jim McIsaac/Getty Images(NEW YORK) — After the New York Jets struggled to make the playoffs in 2011, which led to teammate’s anonymously throwing quarterback Mark Sanchez under the bus to New York newspapers, Sanchez fired back on Thursday on the “The Michael Kay Show” on ESPN1050 in New York.

“It is a gutless thing to do,” Sanchez told the show.  After the show, he spoke with the media. “If you’re not going to put your name on something, why waste anybody’s time? Obviously, they had strong opinions about it, but not strong enough to say who they were.”

As for his feud with wide receiver Santonio Holmes, Sanchez believes they can co-exist in 2012.

“I know it can work between us,” Sanchez said. “It’s not a question of if, it’s just a matter of when — and that’s now.”

Sanchez signed a three-year, $40 million contract extension last Friday with New York.  The Jets finished 8-8 last season.
