(LONDON) — Simon Cowell has vowed to improve security at his London home after coming face-to-face Saturday night with a female intruder standing in his bathroom armed with a brick.
The Daily Mail reports the 52-year-old Cowell told a friend, “It was an absolutely terrifying experience. Seeing this woman standing there in my house was like something out of a horror movie.”
Authorities believe the woman, identified as 29-year-old Leanne Zaloumis, entered Cowell’s home through a window around 10:30 p.m. while the X-Factor judge was watching TV in his den.
The Daily Mail quotes Cowell as saying, “I now know that I need to improve my security. She could have had a gun.”
According to one source, the suspect is believed to have gone from room to room and at one point, was “lying on Simon’s bed in his bedroom.” A friend says Cowell was “pretty shaken up” by the incident.
Zaloumis was detained by Cowell’s security staff and turned over to police who have charged her with one count of aggravated burglary. She is scheduled to appear in a West London court Monday.
