South Carolina Introduces Frank Martin As New Head Coach
(COLUMBIA, S.C.) -- South Carolina introduced former Kansas State coach Frank Martin as their new head men's basketball coach Tuesday. The Gamecocks gave the 46-year-old Martin a six-year deal worth $12.3 million.
Martin will take over a program that went 10-21 this season, including 2-14 in the SEC.
“I love challenges,” Martin said. “Some people run away from challenges, I run to challenges. Our guys will be known as the hardest playing team in America. We will play the game the right way.”
In five seasons as the head coach of the Wildcats, Martin compiled a record of 117-54. His team was eliminated by Syracuse during a Sweet Sixteen game in this month's NCAA Tournament.
