State Hospital South Could Lose Accreditation

(BLACKFOOT) – State Hospital South is taking the risk of losing its accreditation due to cuts in staffing in recent years. Rep. Fred Wood of Burley told members of the Joint Finance Appropriations Committee last week that cuts to the Blackfoot facility are putting staff and patients in danger. Local News 8 reports that a recent proposal for the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare’s 2013 budget includes refilling 10 former positions and making some facility upgrades. That budget was approved on a 19 to 1 vote.
