The two-time Super Bowl champion was supposed to make $4 million in 2012 before the team released him this offseason.

“As much I will miss football, my teammates, coaches, and everything about the game, I don’t want to play it in any other uniform,” said Ward at his press conference.  “The black and gold runs deep in me and I will remain a Steeler for life.”

The 36-year-old Ward is the franchise’s all-time leader in every major receiving category, including receptions, yards and touchdowns.

“I don’t have any regrets, I want my legacy here to say, ‘you know what, he was one hell of a football player and he gave it his all’,” said Ward.  “I’m truly blessed to play in three Super Bowls, won two Super Bowls, Super Bowl MVP (2006); I’ve been to Pro Bowls, what more can a player want?”
