Syracuse Self Reports Potential Violations
Published at(SYRACUSE, NY) — Syracuse University has self reported potential violations of its internal drug policy.
A three month investigation by Yahoo! Sports shows that the program failed to comply to the drug policy and played ineligible players throughout the past decade.
“In accordance with NCAA regulations, it is the University’s practice to self-report possible violations to the NCAA. We self-reported issues with drug testing to the NCAA, and there is currently an ongoing inquiry,” the school said in a statement. “The inquiry does not involve any current SU student-athletes. To ensure the integrity of the ongoing process, we are unable to comment further at this time.”
Yahoo! reports that at least ten players since 2001 had tested positive for a banned recreational substance, yet were allowed to practice and play when they should have been suspended.
An NCAA inquiry has begun.
