(NASHVILLE, TN) — The thirteenth seeded Ohio Bobcats defeated the South Florida Bulls 62-56 to advance to the round of 16 in the NCAA Men’s College Basketball Tournament.
Junior guard Walter Offutt led the Bobcats with 21 points and C.J. Cooper chipped in 19.
The win marks the seventh time a thirteenth seeded team has reached the Sweet Sixteen since the field expanded to 64 teams in 1985.
“We know we can compete with the bigger teams,” Offutt said. “I think are mindset going into the game is we expect to win the game. I think that’s playing a big part in what we’re doing right now.”
Ohio will look to become the first thirteenth seeded team to reach the Elite Eight on Friday, when they take on top seeded North Carolina.
