(IDAHO FALLS) – It was an accident filled weekend, many crashes happened locally and in the region.  Some of the accidents are still being investigated but alcohol is said to have played a huge roll in most cases.

A Pocatello man and his four passengers were injured after a single-car accident near American Falls Sunday, 22-year-old Chance Pickins was driving along Lake Channel Road when he failed to negotiate a curve, lost control , and overturned.  All five were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.  Idaho State Police say alcohol was involved in the incident.

An evening car accident claimed the life of a 9-year-old girl Friday.  Police say 45-year-old Dwight Lloyd of Wayan was driving north on Highway 34 near Soda Springs when another car struck his vehicle.  The other driver, 46-year-old Richard Hunsaker of Soda Springs, was not seriously injured in the accident, though Lloyd was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.  The girl, who was traveling with Lloyd at the time, has not been identified.  Alcohol did play a factor in the crash.

Two women have died in a highway crash in western Wyoming Sunday afternoon.  Police say 60-year-old Verna Prater was traveling on U.S. Highway 30 about seven miles east of Kemmerer, when she lost control and crashed head on into another vehicle.  The second driver, 60-year-old Kathleen Collings died at the scene along with Prater.  The crash is still under investigation.
