Ferrell appeared on the TBS late-night show as his Anchorman alter ego, 1970s news anchorman Ron Burgundy, who made his entrance while performing his trusty flute.

He poked fun at host Conan O’Brien for a bit, then said, “I want to announce this to everyone here in the Americas, to our friends in Spain, Turkey and the U.K., including England, that as of 0900 Mountain time, Paramount Pictures and myself, Ronald Joseph Aaron Burgundy, have come to terms on a sequel to Anchorman.”

The Hollywood Reporter says many of the original cast members are expected to return for the sequel.  In addition to Ferrell, Anchorman starred Steve Carell, Paul Rudd, David Koechner and Christina Applegate.

The sequel reportedly will be released sometime next year.
