It’s almost impossible to overstate, although John Lennon may have done so when he infamously quipped, “We’re more popular than Jesus.”

After the Beatles broke up, there was the lingering fantasy that they would eventually reunite. They never did.

But there may be talk of a second coming of sorts. Paul McCartney’s singer/songwriter son, James, told the BBC in an April 2 interview that a next-generation Beatles — complete with Lennon’s son, Sean, and George Harrison’s son, Dhani — could happen.

“Sean seemed to be into it. Dhani seemed to be into it. I’d be happy to do it,” the younger McCartney said.

He added that Ringo Starr’s son, Jason, who is a drummer like his father, might also be game.

But critics say a reunion of the Beatles’ offspring could be a let-down because the group couldn’t ever meet expectations.

Soon after the BBC report, James McCartney posted a message on his Facebook page to say that he was “just thinking out loud.”
