Cardinals Planning To Place Berkman On 15-Day DL

Eliot J. Schechter/MLB Photos via Getty Images(ST. LOUIS) — The St. Louis Cardinals are planning to place first baseman Lance Berkman on the 15-day disabled list because of a left calf injury. Second basemen Skip Schumaker, who is returning from an injury, will take Berkman’s place on the roster.

The 36-year-old Berkman aggravated his left calf on Wednesday when he was pursuing a pop fly during the Cardinals’ 11-1 victory over the Reds.

In seven games this season, the six-time All-Star is batting .348 with zero home runs and two RBIs.
