Apple, Inc.(MELBOURNE, Australia) — Australia-based artists have worked with a scent marketing company called Air Aroma to share the scent of a new Apple MacBook Pro at their upcoming art exhibit in Melbourne.

According to Air Aroma’s blog post about the project, the scent “encompasses the smell of the plastic wrap covering the box, printed ink on the cardboard, the smell of paper and plastic components within the box and of course the aluminum laptop, which has come straight from the factory where it was assembled in China.”

Air Aroma says it wasn’t a simple project. The firm had to contact its fragrance suppliers in the south of France to acquire the fragrances of glue, plastic, rubber, and paper. But the team ultimately did the job, and the scent will be released using Air Aroma’s Aroslim diffuser at the exhibit.

While the scent was created just for this event, Air Aroma Chief Operating Officer Rebecca Ebbecke tells ABC News that the reaction to the project might change that.

“We have received such an overwhelming response that we are considering what else we could do with it,” Ebbecke said.
