Damon signed a one-year deal that will be worth $1.25 million once he is added to the major league roster.  Damon played last year with the Tampa Bay Rays and will be splitting time with outfielder Shelley Duncan.

Damon did not go through spring training with the Indians because he went unsigned after playing 150 games with the Rays last year.  He has spent the last two weeks at the Indians practice facility preparing for his return.

The two-time World Series champion batted .261 with 16 homers and 73 RBIs last season in Tampa and needs only 277 hits to reach 3,000.
