Lawsuit Gives Fort Hall Reservation $60M
(FORT HALL) – The Fort Hall Indian Reservation has been awarded $60 million in a lawsuit against the federal government. Authorities say the case stems from lawsuits going back as far as the 1940s when the tribes were granted settlements in federal courts. The money however, has been slow in coming. Attorney Jeanette Wolfley says the case is significant because the government is willing to take responsibility for the mistreatment of a Native American tribe, something it has been reluctant to do in the past. There’s been no word yet as to how the money will be used.
