In an interview with Time Magazine, Guillen talked about how he admired and respected Castro for being in power for so long. That didn’t go over so well with the heavily Cuban fan base in Miami. Guillen though, later apologized for his comments.

“I will apologize if I hurt somebody’s feelings, or I hurt somebody’s thought,” Guillen told the team’s beat writers. “I want them to know I’m against everything 100 percent — I repeat it again — the way this man (been) treating people for the last 60 years.”

Guillen made some other colorful remarks as well. He added that he gets drunk after every single game at the hotel bar and he’s been doing so since he’s been in baseball.
