Property Rental “Money Order” Craigslist Scam Targets E. Idaho

(IDAHO FALLS) – An Idaho Falls woman lost $400 to a Craigslist scammer posing as a “Pastor” serving as a missionary in Nigeria. KIDK reports that the scam takes advantage of would-be tenants by copying information from real rental properties and offering them at much lower prices. Police are cautioning residents to avoid ads from people who aren’t local, who won’t allow them to see the property beforehand, and who can’t provide a receipt or lease agreement at the time of payment.
