Ravens Sign Former Colts QB Curtis Painter

NFL Shield (NFL)(BALTIMORE) -- The Baltimore Ravens signed free agent quarterback Curtis Painter to a one-year contract Thursday. Financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed.

The 25-year-old Painter was originally drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in the sixth round of the 2009 NFL draft.  He was called upon last season to step in under center with Peyton Manning on the shelf because of a neck injury. In nine games, Painter tossed 1,541 yards along with six touchdowns and nine interceptions.

He will compete with Tyrod Taylor for the backup role to starter Joe Flacco.
