It was only the second time in 62 attempts Rivera didn’t convert a save opportunity versus Tampa Bay.

“My fault. I felt good. I don’t make excuses,” Rivera said. “I just left the ball up.”

Rivera probably shouldn’t feel bad. Pena went 3 for 5 on the afternoon, including hitting a Grand Slam off Yankees ace CC Sabathia in the first inning.

The two teams will face off again Saturday at 7:10 PM ET.
