Report: Britney Spears Signing $15 Million ‘X Factor’ Deal

Jeff Kravitz/FilmMagic(LOS ANGELES) — According to TMZ, Britney Spears has struck a deal with the producers of The X Factor that will pay the singer 15 million dollars to join the show as a judge next season.
The gossip site says “the fine points” of the deal are still being worked out, but the broad strokes are done. If the contracts are finalized, they will then have to be approved by Britney’s father Jamie, who is her conservator, and lawyers for the conservatorship. At that point, the judge overseeing the conservatorship will have to approve.
Sources tell the website it’s a “virtual certainty” that all involved will sign off on the deal.
Show creator and executive producer Simon Cowell told TMZ on Tuesday he’d be thrilled if Britney came aboard, saying, “I would love to have her on the show. I think she would be a fascinating person to sit next to.” Cowell said the show may make an announcement within the week.
Britney will fill one of two vacant seats formally occupied by Nicole Scherzinger, who reportedly earned $1.5 million as an X Factor judge, and Paula Abdul, who reportedly earned $2.5 million.
