(ARLINGTON, Texas) — The Texas Rangers have finalized a five-year contract extension with second baseman Ian Kinsler worth $75 million. The deal will keep the two-time All-Star in Arlington through the 2017 season and includes a club option for 2018.
“I went to three different schools, kind of traveled around for awhile, was drafted late and the Rangers gave me a chance in 2003,” Kinsler said during a news conference Wednesday. “Since that point, I’ve always tried to do my best to pay back the organization for giving me that opportunity.”
The 29-year-old Kinsler has twice hit at least 30 home runs and 30 stolen bases (2009 & 2011) in the same season.
