(DENVER) — Pro Bowl safety Brian Dawkins, who played 16 seasons in the NFL, announced his retirement on his Twitter page.
“The Lord has blessed me to play in the NFL for 16 years. I would like to thank the Eagles & the Broncos 4 believing In me,” the Twitter post said. “I would like 2 thank all my teammates & Coaches that I have been blessed 2 go to battle with. Along with u, the fans 4 helping make my career 1 that i have enjoyed tremendously.”
Dawkins was drafted by Philadelphia in 1996, and he played there for 13 seasons before spending the final three years of his career in Denver. The eight-time Pro Bowler finished his career with 1,131 tackles, 37 interceptions, and 26 sacks.
