(POCATELLO) – Officials in Washington are speaking out about why a murdered Pocatello boy was put into the custody of his estranged father. Here’s Tyler Andersen with more. Authorities say 6-year-old Afton Allison had been communicating with his father through letters after being placed into foster care last year. They say 27-year-old Anthony Blake Viles was enthusiastic about taking care of his son, and would attend court proceedings when Afton’s mother declined. Officials blame incomplete information for not knowing Viles’ previous criminal record. Viles faces a first-degree murder charge for the fatal beating of his son.
