(LEXINGTON, KY) — Former Kentucky forward Anthony Davis worked out Tuesday at the Kentucky gym where he spent one season.
Davis is now preparing for the 2012 NBA draft on June 28 in New York City. Where he will wind up is no guarantee, but Davis is expected to be the first pick in a couple weeks.
Right now the Charlotte Bobcats have the best chance at getting the No. 1 pick after they suffered the worst winning percentage in league history.
“It was a great experience, at the same time, no one knows if I’m going to be the number one pick,” said Davis on Tuesday. “I just gotta’ go out, go hard in workouts, and make sure I impress the scouts and coaches.”
As for possibly landing in Charlotte, Davis dismissed those ideas.
“Not sure, I don’t know if I’m going to be the number one pick. It’s just a rumor out there. No one knows if it’s real until June 28th,” said Davis. “Just to show that I’m a step closer at reaching my dream to play in the NBA is going to be a great experience.”
The team with the worst regular season record hasn’t won the lottery since the Magic in 2004, when they drafted Dwight Howard. The Washington Wizards have the second-best shot at landing the No. 1 pick.
The NBA lottery is tonight at 8 P.M. eastern.
