Lawrie has been suspended for four games and fined an undisclosed amount by Major League Baseball after an altercation with home plate umpire Bill Miller.

It started in the ninth inning on Tuesday when the Blue Jays were down 4-3 in the ninth inning. Lawrie lost his cool when on a full count, Lawire thought a pitch was ball four, but Miller ruled it a strike. Lawrie disagreed with the call and proceeded to yell and scream at Miller. He eventually threw his batting helmet on the ground towards the direction of Miller, the helmet bounced and hit Miller.

“The only thing I would change maybe is not throwing the helmet or any equipment toward the umpire because you can get an unlucky hop and have the kind of mess that’s going on right now,” Lawrie said.

Despite the punishment sent down by Major League Baseball, Lawrie originally appealed his suspension, but has decided to drop the appeal and serve his suspension.
