Messier/NHLI via Getty Images(LOS ANGELES) — The Phoenix Coyotes are heading back to Phoenix, and the Los Angeles Kings are going with them.  Coyotes goalie Mike Smith made 36 saves as Phoenix blanked the Los Angeles 2-0. The win stopped the Coyotes from being swept as they head back to Phoenix down 3-1 in the Western Conference Finals.

Phoenix winger Shane Doan scored both Coyotes goals.

“We obviously had a huge game from Doner (Doan),” Mike Smith said. “It trickled down through our lineup. He was unbelievable. He was such a great leader tonight that, like I said, it trickled down and every guy knew that he was going and they were going to do their part to try to force this series to Game 5.”

The victory puts Phoenix three wins away from becoming the fourth team in NHL history to overcome a 3-0 playoff series deficit.

“We’ve put ourselves in a tough position but we do know it has been done,” Doan said. “I guess that’s what sports are all about, trying to do something someone hasn’t done for a while. Nobody wants to be in the position we’re in, but everyone wants to prove that they can kind of answer that call.”

Game 5 is Friday in Phoenix. The puck drops at 9 PM ET.
