The Devils received goals from David Clarkson, Ilya Kovalchuk and Bryce Salvador as they went on to beat the Philadelphia Flyers 3-1, winning the best-of-seven series in five games.

“Guys were ready to pay a price to win this series,” Devils goalie Martin Brodeur said. “We didn’t think it was going to be five games we were ready for a long series against these guys. Physically, today was probably the most demanding for the boys. You got to give them credit (Flyers). They came in really hard, they hit us hard, borderline on a couple of the hits, but we stayed composed.”

The sixth seeded Devils now await the winner of the New York Rangers-Washington Capitals series. The Rangers lead that series 3-2.
