Disney Announces "Avengers" Sequel
(NEW YORK) -- The Avengers aren't finished saving the world.
Following a record-breaking weekend for Marvel's The Avengers, Disney CEO Bob Iger announced Tuesday that a sequel will be developed. Disney owns Marvel.
It appears there's no word yet on a release date, or whether all of the major cast members will definitely return.
The Avengers raked in a record $207.4 million over the weekend, and even gave a little boost to another Disney film that has underwhelmed at the box office: John Carter.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, John Carter jumped from 38th on the box office chart the previous weekend to 12th this past weekend because it was screened in tandem with The Avengers at more than 150 drive-in theaters.
