The team has rewarded McCoy with a five-year contract extension worth $45 million, $20 million of that will be guaranteed. McCoy’s deal makes him the third-highest paid running back in the NFL.

In his third season in the NFL, and second as a full-time starter, McCoy ran for 1,309 yards (fourth in the NFL), 17 rushing touchdowns, and scored 20 touchdowns total. He was named to the NFL’s All-Pro team in 2011.

“I love this team, and I’m kind of a hometown kid from Harrisburg which is like an hour and a half away,” McCoy said. “Nothing could be better than being here for the long term. Once you kind of realize the feeling of wanting to be here for the long term, we contacted the team and it was a mutual feeling. So, it kicked off from there.”

McCoy is just the latest Eagle player to receive an extension this offseason. The team also extended Trent Cole, Todd Herremans, and DeSean Jackson.
