Floyd Mayweather Beats Miguel Cotto By Unanimous Decision
(LAS VEGAS) -- It wasn't easy, but Floyd Mayweather proved once again why he's considered by many the top fighter in the sport of boxing. After 12 rounds of action, Mayweather topped Miguel Cotto after two judges scored the fight 117-111 and the third scored it 118-110.
Mayweather competed in one the toughest fight of his career. He even found himself bruised and with a bloody nose at one point, but after a strong 12th round, Mayweather sealed the victory to keep his career record blemish free. He has yet to lose a fight during his 16-year pro career.
"He's a tough competitor," Mayweather said of his opponent. "He came to fight; he didn't come to just survive. I dug down and fought him back."
Mayweather was guaranteed a record $32 million and Cotto made him fight for it. Cotto on the other hand, made $8 million, which was his biggest guaranteed purse of his career.
ESPN.com showed that Mayweather landed 179 out of 687 punches to 105 out of 506 to Cotto.
