GOP Address: Recent Grad, Rep. Kristi Noem Pushes for Jobs Plan

US Congress(WASHINGTON) — In this week’s Republican address, South Dakota Rep. Kristi Noem tells American’s that despite last week’s disappointing jobs report, House Republicans are working to improve the economy with its “Plan for America’s Job Creators.”
Only just receiving her Bachelor’s degree in political science last weekend, Noem says she “couldn’t help but think about the challenges that this year’s graduates will face.” Noem says that in President Obama’s economy recent grads will be hard-pressed to find jobs.
“Over half of the recent college graduates cannot get a job in President Obama’s economy. One of the reasons is that policies like the president’s health care law, they make our economy worse by making it harder for small businesses to hire new workers,” Noem says in the address.
In his weekly address, President Obama says “we’ve got to move forward,” suggesting that Republican lawmakers wish to go back to the “same policies that got us into this mess.” Rep. Noem challenges the President’s statement in the Republican address, though.
“The president claims to be leading us ‘forward,’ but his policies have us stuck,” she says. “Instead of working with Republicans to rebuild the economy, the president is ignoring the tough choices and trying to distract from the real issues.”
What are the real issues? Noem says it’s creating and jobs and a pro-growth economy, but adds that President Obama is “politicizing” issues and to “distract the American people.”
“The challenges young people and women face in this economy need to be addressed and not exploited for political gain,” Noem says, referring to the president’s claim that Republicans were slashing support for women’s health to prevent student loan rates from doubling.
“That’s why Republicans are focused — we’re focused on helping put Americans back to work through our ‘Plan for America’s Job Creators,'” the South Dakota congresswoman says.
Urging the Senate to act on the House-passed jobs legislation, Noem concludes the address, “If the president is really serious about doing what’s best for women, young people — and all Americans — working on these jobs bills shoudl be our focus.”
