Hunter has been placed on the restricted list for personal reasons.

His 17-year-old son Darius McClinton-Hunter was one of two adults arrested after a month long investigation, for sexual assault of a child. Three juveniles were also arrested.

Hunter’s family is from a northern suburb of Dallas called Prosper.

“They’re devastated. Everybody’s very upset,” his attorney, Todd Shapiro, told reporters at the courthouse. “He’s got a very bright future … still does. He’s a very good student, a very good athlete.”

McClinton-Hunter has been released on $15,000 bond.

There is no timetable for Hunter’s return to the Angels, and Ryan Langerhans has been recalled from Triple-A-Salt Lake.

For the season Hunter is hitting .258, with five home runs, and 15 RBIs.
