Jackie Chan Retiring from Action Films?
Published at(LONDON) — Is one of the world’s most popular action stars calling it quits? The answer is absolutely not.
Jackie Chan created some confusion when he told reporters at a Cannes press conference Friday that he’s giving up action films for good, reports UsMagazine.com. Chan was talking to reporters while promoting his latest movie, Chinese Zodiac.
The 58-year-old actor, who is famous for performing his own stunts, said, “This will be my last action movie. I will ask my body how long I can go… I tell you, I am not young anymore.” He added, “I am really, really tired.” Chan explained, “The world is too violent now. It’s a dilemma because I like action, but I don’t like the violence.”
However, Chan now says he misspoke. He cleared things up with a message on his official website JackieChan.com on Sunday.
Jackie wrote, “I just want to let everyone know that I am not retiring from doing action movies. What I meant to say is that I need to do less of the life-risking stunts on my movies. After all these years of doing so many stunts and breaking so many bones, I need to take better care of my body so I can keep working. I will continue to do international action movies.” He added, “And I will keep improving my English.”
